Are people what matter most in our churches? Is love permeating everything we do? Are we allowing our churches to change as new people connect and contribute? Are we translating our message in way that we can be understood? Are we allowing character to control our creativity? The Scriptures challenge us to focus on people, loving, serving, relevance, and character.Â
How can we personally live out these core values from the Scriptures?  How can we help our churches connect to these principles?Â

Isn’t it extraordinary the way Jesus dealt with the law? I have an aunt who believes in the God of the New Testament but not the God of the Old Testament. I have always tried to explain how God’s character is always present throughout the entirety of Scriptures. I love the thought that if we ever wanted to know God’s perspective on the laws in Leviticus and Deuteronomy, we have to go no further than seeing Jesus with the woman caught in the act of adultery. God always moves to mercy through the law. The law shows our need for a loving and merciful and forgiving God.Â
What can we learn about God’s abounding mercy and love? Do we hold onto the law or extend mercy in our relationships and ministry? How does this cahnge the way we should live?
Following Jesus Because of His Mercy,
Eric

One of my new year’s resolutions (I seem to be one of the few people who actually still makes them) includes investing more in my friends who do not yet follow Christ. My wife and I have so many wonderful and amazing friends from teeball, Caleb’s school, and our neighborhood. These relationships have been built by applying the ”party theology.” Â
I want to take our conversation one step further: Once we’ve developed friendships and gotten into meaningful relationships with seekers, how can we move our conversations with our friends from superficial to significant to spiritual? Â
If you have recently shared your faith with a friend or neighbor how did the conversation come up? I would love for us to learn from each other how we each shift conversations to the next level.Â
May this be a year of spiritual awakening for all of us and for those we know!
Eric
