Rapid Advance: 04 Mosaic Core Values

Comments RSS Feed 19 Comments

Are people what matter most in our churches?  Is love permeating everything we do?  Are we allowing our churches to change as new people connect and contribute?  Are we translating our message in way that we can be understood?  Are we allowing character to control our creativity?  The Scriptures challenge us to focus on people, loving, serving, relevance, and character.

How can we personally live out these core values from the Scriptures?  How can we help our churches connect to these principles?

Thought provoking message. Was challenged thoroughly. There is a background electronic hum in the audio that has not come through on previous downloads. Thanks for providing the Word in this portable media!

The part about winning a debate against an unbeliever really impacted me. There have been so many times that I have felt like I should win because, after all, I’m right.

I am currently a full-time student working on my Pastoral Studies degree. I am planning on planting a church. When I listened to this message my heart was impacted by the message. I heard exactly what God has put on my heart. Thanks for doing what you do!!!

A great message, especially the emphasis on love being the most important ingredient. The only area I struggled with is the line between communicating in a relevant way and losing the distinctive command to be the pure bride of Christ. I’ve seen people use relevance as a license for sin, and yet far more use purity as an insulator against the world. Well worth giving this message a second listen.

    Greetings from Stockholm, Sweden.
I heard about you from my cousin who attends your meetings. I really like what I hear.
Podcasting gives me great opportunities to hear good sermons.
Sadly, the last minutes of each session disappears.
I am taking my family over soon - we´ll stop by.

(Have you had any german “hymn comments”?)

Micke, sorry for the troubles on your podcast. I am not sure why that is happening, but we will look into it. Glad you are all enjoying it!

Greetings from Motherwell, Scotland. Loved this podcast. Really touched my heart. I find your core values inspirational but, more importantly, your love for Jesus and for people shines through.

I’ve blogged you to spread the word with my people.

    Peace,

    Thomas

I am cross country at Lakeland, Fl working on a degree in church ministries. This message is universal. It resonates with everything God has been planting in me and should resonate with the heart of every believer. Thank you Mosaic for following Christ. If you like the teaching at Mosaic then try listening to the Mars Hill teaching also. www.mhbcmi.org

    What a tremendous message!

Just curious, could you please tell me the context of this “Core Values” message? The date is 1/23, which was a Monday, and it seems longer than the usual message. Was this a Sunday sermon? A new member orientation? What does “Rapid Advance Series” mean in the title of some of these podcasts?

I’m asking because I plan to point my colleagues in ministry to this message, and I’d like to be able to tell them the context of its delivery.

    Blessings on your ministry.

Something that Erwin said has really stuck with me. He said, “The church is more concerned with stopping sin than releasing the potential in us!â€? WOW! Aint that the truth. It is so much more powerful to know that I was created for something great, and not just that I was created a sinner. That’s an important distinction.

    Thanks for listening!

Richard, Erwin had just shared a similar message at Leadership Advance, our annual leadership training for our volunteer staff (leaders don’t retreat, that’s why we call it our “Leadership Advance” rather than retreat). He shared the message for everyone on Jan. 22nd. We generally send out the podcasts on Monday, as long as there are not technical problems, hence the date being listed as 1/23. Finally, “Rapid Advance” has been the series we are doing on Sundays. We are hitting some of the basics we feel everyone in our community needs to hear. It was longer since he covered all 5 of our core values.

Thanks for spreading the word! Chasing Daylight begins Feb. 12th!

    Blessings,

I’m also losing the tail end of the podcasts. I think it might have something to do with iPods and the VBR encoding that Mosaic is using. Looks like there was a bug in the past that was supposedly fixed, but I’m not so sure now.

heyho, greetings from cologne, germany, europe and thanks for this podcast. i really enjoyed to listen to the core values and finding it inspiring for what we do here in building a community.

did erwin mention wood as the third core value? or did i just miss it? ;-)

by the way, germany is well known for fine arts, good songs and all the stuff. just to mention j. s. bach. anyway, i have the same issue, listening to the podcast on my ipod cuts of the end, but if i listen to it in itunes, it is fine …

I’ve got the same issues with losing the last minutes of the podcast. I haven’t listened all the way through with iTunes, only with my iPod Mini.

Thanks for looking into the problem. Erwin always gets to a really good final point and then it’s gone.
