Chasing Daylight: 02 Initiative - Just Do Something

Discussing “Initiative - Just Do Something message from the Chasing Daylight series by Erwin McManus.

Spoken Word as shared at the Mayan at 7pm  (by John Iarrazabal)

initiative.  “stay still.” It was said.  keep on the open plains smooth sands and mountains in the far off distance. not a soul or sound to see. when doors opened.  free and clear as the road before me.
throught the silent seas, to thousands with hands wide open and many more.  “should I stay?”  I kept saying.
No, I must leave this silver contraption.  Go from this place of inside security.  Everything at my reach.  Images at my call and want.  Eating and being happy doing nothing for no one but for myself.  Let me climb down those long stairsand run in the open air.
To things endlessly complex but so simple and not there.  Where the ocean speaks and I am silenced.  Let us do something that causes events to happen.  Far into the future.  Not a second or minute but a thousand eternities ahead, far ahead to where I cannot see a thing.  Losing it all and yet gaining everything from places I didn’t know existed.  Giving it all to you.  From where everything came from.  Don’t lay and think.  Those recollections have lost there attraction.  I have lived closed up far too long.  a vehicle traveling nowhere.  it made me content.  but now i can see waste and emptiness.  for you invited me,  presented me, believed in me.  in my stupor i missed it all.  but an awakening.  my old pronouncements have broken.  farther here than ever before.  i will travel and not stop.  to do and not hesitate.  i am ready.

Chasing Daylight: 01 Choose to Live

Comments RSS Feed 10 Comments

Hazy (Spoken Word by Gabriel Lawrence)

Things are hazy and like life I live a dream
Knowing right to be wrong and wrong to be life
I fight
Whether there are many or few
I fight
Frustrated and complacent not knowing to turn left or right
I fight
Confused by the bright colors of battle
Changing spaces from boy to man I stand
Not settling for a life that has taken me
Neither songs nor alms but actions with purpose will take my breath

My breath tells me there’s more to it
I have choices choices choices and decisions
That will shake me free
I want life abundantly
Abundantly living life through sacrifices that open doors to Awe
I want to breath a sweeter life than chocolate or strawberries
Or strawberries covered by chocolate
I want not to focus on trying to substitute my breath
With guilty pleasures
But rather supplying my inhaler with Awe

Choices choices choices and decisions
Which allow collisions to create beautiful master pieces fueled by purpose

You see we are born and then we die
But somewhere in between we live
Submersed by choices choices choices and decisions
That often times can’t be made in mind but heart
And somewhere between soul and spirit we breath
Until we reflect Awe
In Awe I will give life the greatest most like sweetest adventure

I choose to live life

And even if it’s hazy I choose to breath in Awe
I choose to chase daylight until it isn’t a savings time
But the remainder of a life well spent
Awe yeah

Now I can see

Rapid Advance: 06 Passion - Making Space for Strange Things to Happen

What have we done?

By David Arcos

A poetic response to “Making Space for Strange Things to Happen” (Erwin McManus at Mosaic, 2/5/06) What have we done?

When books bound for empty souls are stomped under soles and sold to those who don’t really need it. Christianity like a rusted sign, like an Amish Buggy cruising through a blurring world shouting it’s dogma as the only way to travel. Like air masks labeled freedom for the world, are full of toxic air.

What are we doing?

Like a priceless guitar laid in our laps for the future, God woos us to play. And we study, preach, read, and explain it, until they run away, forgetting that God wanted us to just pick it up and strum.

When you see the invisible, the possible, the probable through the blinks of God. Ice melts and daffodils bloom while Holly blossoms surround your secret hopes turning brokenness to beauty. And what was once a Soul shattered glass now shines like a masterful MOSAIC.

What will we do?
