Any ideal what McManus had in mind by using the title "Chasing Daylight? I understand the concept of his book, but am just missing it on understading the title. I'm doing a mens study using this book, and this is sure to come up.

Jeff D.: I'm feeling that I'm in the spot I need to be as well. I'm in the burbs(we call it the outpost) and commute into the 'big smoke' - Toronto. I feel there are so many opportunities both in my small community and in the big city.

I do really respect Erwin though for venturing into the big L.A.(illuminating in the dark mentality). I guess what comes to mind for me as well is the vine and the branches and the fruit parable Jesus told where we try not to look at others fruit but focus on our own.
I just feel like I'm bursting with life giving sap right now and just want to impact with fruit where i am ..where He has placed me now ..

As i'm listening to this podcast about optimizing my time and all, i agree, but to an extent. If everyone were to leverage and optimize their "geographic location" and move to LA, as Erwin said since that's where the greatest influence lies, then there would be no one to minister in the smaller, less influential areas of the world. who will go there? i agree with optimizing our time and impact, but where we do it, sometimes we may be surprised by where God places us. for instance, i know that i am exactly where i am supposed to be, geographically - however, it is far from being a top 10 influential place in the world. achieving optimal impact is not conditional on location - even Jesus was born in a "good for nothing" town - i mean, if God wanted to optimize impact of christ's coming, he would have had him come from a far more influential city.

i agree with his other topics, but for those of us who don't live in the major urban areas, don't feel like you're missing out on something - if you're where you're supposed to be, then maybe you're impacting people who will have the influence in other areas of the world.

I know that for me I am not leaving an impact. If I left this world today most people would not even know that I existed. This message meant a lot to me as I knew that I was not doing any thing for God but now I know that I am also not leaving an impact. The only impact that I will be leaving will be an impact of anger.

Thanks Eric,
Similar to these verses I take it ..

Joel 2:28
[ The Day of the LORD ] "And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.
Joel 2:27-29 (in Context) Joel 2 (Whole Chapter)
Acts 2:17
" 'In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.
Acts 2:16-18 (in Context) Acts 2 (Whole Chapter)

Tim,

Actually, we are working to create an online forum for dreamers and visionaries. Keep your eyes out for the unveiling of www.awakenhumanity.org which is coming very, very soon!

Blessings

..to quote Erwin: "focus, leverage and invest in people ..invest in people who invest in people"

I'd say my achilles heel is focus as well .. I'm leaving too many replies here instead of focusing on my mission.. maybe :-)
Is there any kind of a mission we can get started here ? on the net - given we are most likely quite geographically challenged .. can we brainstorm / use our imaginations intertwined with the Holy Spirit to make a mark / impact / John Hancock.. somewhere somehow ? Pull out that razor sharp double-edged sword with the sharp pointed tip ( my pastor did a sermon on the armour of God and the Sword of Truth this past Sunday :-) ) and wield it in supernatural Love Hope and Faith ?

Guy's I'm feeling the same way...like McManus points out Johnathan had no idea if the lord would help, only that he could. Step out & sometimes your blown away when the spirit clearly moves....your floored by the experience. But, really true wisdom can come in the failure right! His cleansing water is in those valleys of life....rivers don't flow on mountain peaks! I'm kind of thinking that place is where the need is greatest (we'll fail unless God helps!) What we view as failure may have planted a seed that bears fruit....only God knows when! I want to be more like Johnathan, to step out clearly in the face of obvious failure that is the difficult issue I struggle with....does that feeling ever go away? Being human do you think Jesus felt that fear of rejection initially?

Hey Phil .. I'm in Toronto. I had a similar question as well. A small example may be: while I was on the subway and all fired up about risk and leaving a mark I had an opportunity to help someone who seemed drunk and cut and stumbling. I ended up chickening out.
Since that time I've been listening to some Dr. Charles Stanley's series on the Holy Spirit and discernment(sifting)...comparing our thoughts with scripture saturated in our minds ...and asking/praying for ...trying to sense His Will/Plan for you .. but I know what you mean Phil - sometimes it's not clear what and what's not a impact/mark for Him ..but maybe we just need to do and maybe fail and do some more until it's more clear what the Godly impacts are .. ?
