Last Sunday, we were asked as a congregation to send in a billboard that most represents Mosaic. Here is what I envision if Mosaic could have a billboard on the corner of Santa Monica and Westwood. The billboard would not have a speration in the middle; therefore, it would be transparent. In red block letters, the word "FREEDOM," would appear in the center of the billboard.

For me, the two most important aspects of our community is transparency and freedom. Transparency is important b/c it shows the world we, as Christians, are broken too. The only difference is we found a Savior in Christ who loves us just as we are. Because of Christ's love, we are now FREE to live beyond the bounds of sin. The reason FREEDOM is in red is to symbolize two things: the blood of Christ and love.

Since I am inept when it comes to photoshop, I could only describe my vision in words.

I believe last week that Erwin mentioned sending in ideas for a billboard. I hope this is the right place to submit something. Here is what I thought although I didn't have time to put it to a background:

imagine pure love.…
now multiply it by infinity.

wouldn’t it fill your heart?

now imagine that love became a person
who loves you that much.

wouldn’t it be divine?

I am a student at Emmanuel College in Georgia and I just want to say that I really enjoy the podcast, I listen to them on my ipod whenever I get the chance, whether in between classes or on the 2 hour drive home some weekends. This series is so amazing and I've been touched by it, especially the Einstein one that came on the podcast last week.
Erwin is one of my favorite speakers and pastors, he is an awesome man of God and I've learn so much by him through his books and his podcast. Hopefully one day I'll be able to join the community there and contribute to the movement!

Erwin, you kill me. I have been listening to and reading what you have to say for the last two years and your love and compassion for people in search of God inspires and challenges me. This latest series is excellent and today I will be mindful of the need to connect to people and to be a light of His love in every way possible. Thank-you for the weekly shot in the arm. May God continue to bless you, your family and your community. It gives me hope.

Thank you, pastor Erwin, for this very practical series that has been challenging my day-to-day faith. I've been broken and built up and experienced God so tangibly and intimately. Praise God for how He inspires Kim's brilliant heart through such an idea as this dialogue with our city at large.

I personally don't think going to bars is sinful in and of itself, C.S. Lewis, JRR Tolkien, and their friends were well known to strike up many theological and literary conversations in the "Bird & Baby" tavern. The shotglasses may seem to be just another "gimmick" to unbelievers, or it could be seen as a kind invitation from a church to real people.

there's no billboard for it, but seemed pretty relevent to the type of conversation this series is trying to approach...

i just heard on fox news that a church in north carolina (next level churh) is promoting its "purpose" (same purpose as mosaic, reaching people through culturally relevent mediums) on shot glasses and distributing these to bars. the shotglasses say "give us a shot" and the pastor speaking says this is theyre attempt to strike up interest from people who feel separated from God. i'm sure it's alittle awkward drinking from a glass that represents a community that is essentially judging and assuming people who go to bars are disconnected from God. i like to frequent bars with my friends once in awhile and I LOVE the Lord, and i am disturbed by skewed effort from this church in NC. what would non-believers think? what do you think?
