Hi Artisan people....

I'm a graphic designer & an artist, working in Sydney - Australia and serving in the big church in here. I just have a question for you, how do you classify the 'art' category. Graphic Design, Animation Design, etc... are they part of the Visual Art? Or only 'fine art' stream line that is included in 'Visual Art'?

I have browsed a lot in your website, and I do interested in everything that you have done there. I think that you guys are awesome and you have such a great passion especially that you can outreach 'creative people/ artists'...

How do you dealing with the artist's 'side' of every person in your ministry (e.g. individualism character, ego, pride, etc...).
I would like to learn more from you and get your resource (books or CDs, etc)... Do you have any suggestion how can I get them?

Thank you so much! God bless you all...

I am an artist using my gifts and talents to reach out to my church and community. I am a part of my communications team at my church and do graphic design for my local art alliance. I believe the Lord has called me to use my talents to make the world a better more beautiful place.
Thanks for the inspiration in what you all are doing. Jen

Thank you everyone for your questions and comments about using the visual arts in your ministries. To further understand how we use painters and artwork for our Sunday gatherings at Mosaic, you can contact Tammy- Tammy@mosaic.org. She does an amazing job of leading, recruiting and serving our visual artists on a weekly basis.

If you want to know our perspective, and core motivation in how and why we use the visual arts at Mosaic, I encourage you to read several articles I've written entitled "OBSERVE" on the Mosaic Alliance web site. Here's the link-

I love what you are doing through the arts. We are located in a college cluster community near Philadelphia.

We use the arts in worship... my wife is a visual artist & will paint while I teach. We have a local arts small group & a outreach throught the arts in a public school.

As a church plant we use media (radio) and art based projects within the community. We are organizing a Christian film & arts festival - but are having diffculty connecting to Christian Film Makers. Would appreciate any assistance.

Hi all,

I am a pastor in Terre Haute, Indiana. Not necessarily the epicenter of the worlds creativity but my church has some cool things going on.

We have a group called ArtReach that meets once a week. It is a group of art lovers, not necessarily all actual artists. We get the sermon notes about 1-2 weeks ahead of time and we create art based upon those notes. The art is then displayed in our atrium before the service starts. Sometimes people don't "get it" until after the sermon is over and they can filter the art through the message they just heard.

This all evolved from a group that I put together called "Creative Expressions of the 23rd Psalm." I didn't actually teach the class. God dropped an Art Therapist in my lap and she lead the group. Actually, she is the Director of the Art Therapy Program at a local college. We broke down the 23rd Psalm into 8 chunks and created art based upon those chunks. We interpreted the scriptures through a different media each week. This group really grew close and did not want to quit meeting together, we started doing art-based service projects in our city together and ArtReach was birthed. I also have had the honor of baptizing 6 people from the group. Not all were followers of Christ when they got involved.

We also do live art during the worship gatherings.

Hello paula and everyone out there.
Greetings from England
Thought you might like to see how our church reaches out to the community through the arts.
Would be could if we could swop some cool ideas.
I trained as a printed textile designer, and worked in a school teaching textiles and building lots of theatre sets. I'm just taking a break now to care for my miracle baby( that's another story)
We are having an art day call Gifted next tuesday.
Please pray that people will come to know God
Blessings to you.
