To be conscious means to be awake and aware of how God is moving around us. At times, we go through life unaware of our surroundings. A posture of awareness and readiness toward God leads us to freedom for ourselves and others. But, oftentimes we use waiting as an excuse for laziness. Pastor Mariah teaches out of 1 Peter 1:22 “Now that you’ve cleaned up your lives by following the truth, love one another as if your lives depended on it. Your new life is not like your old life.”

God is on the move, and He is always moving through us for the sake of others. Are we aware of His movement in our lives? The closer we get with God the more detailed His voice becomes. If we find ourselves at a crossroads we must ask ‘Is what I'm doing for the sake of others, or am I only moving with myself in mind? Am I self-focused or others-focused?’ If you’re in tune with God, you’ll be tested, and you'll be refined in the process. But, any suffering can be used for refinement. So let’s listen up and gear up for the ways God wants to move!

Things will be difficult when we move with God but there is always a promise of joy in the moments. If you can serve others, your suffering won’t have power over you anymore. Peter reminds us to live a life shaped by God's life and to love others as if our lives depended on it. We have everything it takes to live an expansive life filled with the movement of God.

“You’re always moving for others when you’re moving with God.” -Mariah McManus Goss
