This is the moment the tide turns. One of Jesus’ closest followers sells Him out for a few silver coins. Betrayal always stings worst when it comes from those closest to you. Jesus felt that. He didn’t just carry the weight of our sin on the cross—He carried the sting of personal betrayal, heartbreak, and rejection.

MATTHEW 26:14–16

14 Then one of the Twelve—the one called Judas Iscariot—went to the chief priests 15 and asked, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver him over to you?” So they counted out for him thirty pieces of silver. 16 From then on Judas watched for an opportunity to hand him over.

Have you ever felt betrayed by someone close to you? How does knowing Jesus experienced that pain too affect how you handle it?

Jesus, You know the pain of being betrayed. You understand what it’s like to be let down by someone you loved. Help me to bring my wounds to You and trust You with the healing. And help me forgive those who’ve hurt me, just as You’ve forgiven me. Amen.
